Planting Trees with UPCs for Trees
You probably knew that our food and treat bags are recyclable, but did you know that you can plant a tree when you get to the bottom of your bag? If you’re looking for ways to make your pets pull their weight and be more eco-friendly, our UPCs for Trees Program is a great start!
How it Works
UPCs for Trees is super easy to participate in. All you have to do is once your pet is done eating their Earthborn Holistic goodies is cut out the UPC bar code from the packaging and then mail them to Earthborn Holistic® Food for Pets P.O. Box 972958 Dept. 100 El Paso, TX 79997 or drop them off at a participating Earthborn ReBorn dealer that also has a UPCs envelope on their ReBorn bin.
These UPCs are sent back to us at Earthborn Holistic and once we tally up the number of UPCs we buy trees to be planted through our partner, Trees for the Future.
Trees for the Future
Trees for the Future is a non-profit whose mission is “to improve the livelihoods of impoverished farmers by revitalizing degraded lands.”
Trees for the Future plants trees through what is called the Forest Garden Approach. Through this approach, they not only plant trees, they train thousands of farmers on how to sustainably use their land. Additionally they educate these farmers through a four-year process that revitalizes the farmers’ existing land into a forest garden that increases their income and food security using trees provided by Trees for the Future (through your UPCs!).
The four-year training that Trees for the Future provide to farmers consists of planting trees to protect and stabilize the soil, diversifying their fields with fruits and vegetables, optimizing the long-term health of their land through conservation, and finally graduation where Trees for the Future helps farmers develop a strategy for the future. Based on their data, Trees for the Future assists farmers with income and food security within the first year of the program.
Where Trees are Being Planted
Trees for the Future is currently planting trees in the countries of Cameroon, Kenya, Senegal, Uganda, and Tanzania in Africa.

We are extremely proud of our partnership with Trees for the Future and grateful for the participation of our Earthborn Holistic pet parents that grew this program. As of March 2022, we have planted over 940,000 trees and helped create a more sustainable lifestyle for forest garden farmers around the world.
