Dog Friendly Things to Do in Tampa, FL

Welcome To Tampa Bay! Home of the Lightning, the Bucs, the Rowdies, the Rays, AND America’s (and Florida’s) most pet-friendly city! Tampa prides itself in being a hot spot for the dog community. We have over 100 places to stay with your furry friend, restaurants and breweries that let you grab a drink with your four legged-best friend (some even have a dog meal on the menu), countless dog parks, and best of all our pet-friendly beaches across the coast!

Dog-Friendly Beaches

This might be the best selling point for Tampa Bay, which is why I saved it for last. Tampa Bay is full of different dog-friendly beaches, just please make sure to leave the beach cleaner than when you left it (including poops).

Our most commonly visited beach would be Davis Island Dog Beach. There are two fenced-in areas for dogs on Davis Island – one is a beach and the other is your typical dog park. It is a little more industrial, but the water is calm with minimal waves, and has a place to wash your dog off after a day in the sun!

Next up we have Honeymoon Island! Never too crowded, crystal clear waters, a true BEACH beach where you can set up all day with your furry best friend! There are 4-5 beaches within the park, but there is a designated part for four-legged visitors, so keep your eyes open!

Lastly, we have Pass A Grille Dog Beach. This is a great option if you are headed over the bridge to visit our sister city St. Petersburg! It is a smaller, more secluded beach with normal beach goers AND furry four-legged ones! This is also a true beach with waves, shells and sand, and varying water depths. It does cost $3.75 per hour to park at this location.

Sparkman Wharf

Ok, this is one of THEE best spots to visit while you’re here! Sparkman Wharf knew what they were doing when they envisioned a place where our entire community could gather, eat, drink, and be merry. They have the best of what Tampa has to offer (and they’re expanding), Florida’s great weather, waterfront views, live music, a smorgasbord of good eats and drinks! And the best part is it’s family AND doggo friendly! Most of the vendors have treats behind the counter if you bark nicely.

Breweries (We have over 80!)

We have so many awesome dog-friendly breweries around Tampa Bay it’s hard to choose! From Downtown Tampa, to Dunedin, to across the bridge to St. Pete, right up to Riverview.

Which brings us to our first stop — Leaven Brewing! We were actually Mug Club members their 2nd year of being open, but you will find some dang good brewskis (Is Blueberry or Cheeky Blonde are our fav’s), a plethora of treats, and some of the friendliest Brewery owners (S/O Jillian & KJ) — also inside/outside doggo friendly.

Second stop is 7venth Sun’s second location in Seminole Heights! They have a fantastic selection of interesting brews, but my go-to here is the Graffiti Orange! This place is great if you’re looking to bring your pupper inside while you toss one back, and it’s within walking distance to so many interesting other pet-friendly shops and restaurants (go stop by Health Mutt for all your Earthborn needs, and say Murph sent you)!

The last stop is Coppertail Brewing, a Tampa beer staple! This is a great place to visit for food (get the tots) and brews (the Independent is my fav), but as a head’s up this brewery is patio doggo-friendly only. They also have 20+ beers on tap, along with wine, and a great brewery tour ($7) if you ever visit without your furry companion.
