Dog-Friendly Christmas Cookies Recipe
Christmas cookies aren’t just for humans! If you’re wanting to treat your dog this holiday season, here’s a super simple dog-friendly cookie recipe you can make for your pups that they’re sure to enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup dog safe peanut butter*
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 350. Combine pumpkin, eggs, and peanut butter. Add flour and knead into a dough. Sometimes you may need to add more flour to get right dough consistency. Split dough into two equal portions.
Take half of the dough and roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out into holiday themed shapes.
Take the other half of dough and roll into roughly equally-sized balls. Roll balls in flour and use thumb to make indent. Add small amount of dog-friend fruit preserves*.
Bake for 20-40 minutes depending on what crunch factor you’re looking for.
Once cooled, decorate the cut out cookies using icing and sprinkles!
*Watch out for ingredients such as Xylitol when picking out peanut butter and fruit preserves.
Icing
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tbsp honey
Combined corn starch and honey, then add water to right consistency, typically 1-2 tsp depending on how thin or thick you want your icing. Icing will harden over time.
